After some consideration I have finally decided on the subject of the novel I will write for this year’s NaNoWriMo.
I am going to write something that’s NOT considered fantasy, sci-fi or urban fantasy, something completely out of my comfort zone.
I’m going to write about pregnancy, miscarriage, birth-trauma and post-natal depression. There aren’t very many novels out there that deal with some of these topics and this is an area in which, unfortunately, I am very well experienced. People are forever wanting me to write about it so I have decided I will. My life is WAY too boring to actually carry a story though, so it will be almost 100% fictionalised. I say almost because the really horrid parts, like *being evacuated in the back of a Hercules during a natural disaster and having the person on the stretcher below you pull on your waist strap which wraps around your freshly opened abdomen and the person above you peeing all over you are really too juicy to not put in there.
*no, I am actually not making that part up.
Sounds fabulous! Go for it. Can’t wait to see how you get on with it.
